(How Apostolic Faith Mission came to Ethiopia)
Since December 2016, the AFM church planting concept has never been a mere idea for the spiritual world. Pastor Gossa Genna Hamda, being a mediator, has been confidently working on the project. He had been able to mobilize more than seven pastors to work with AFM church mission in Ethiopia, other than Pastor Nathan Tewoldeberhan Keweti who had been a former evabgelist at Assella and Addis Ababa Lutheran Church.
Pastor Nathan has not just surprisingly visited South Africa for only six days, but has also been imparted in this AFM Ethiopia church planting burden with pastor Gossa in Pretoria, Geoburg and Johannesburg cities. Most of all, he has got the partnership marriage with the Sunnyside AFM local church to the Ethiopian mission.
Now, at the Sunnyside AFM local church, Pastor Dr. Thomas Swift has been the back end of all prayers, empowerment trainings and financial aids from South Africa. He had officially launched the AFM Ethiopia Summit local church in October, 2017 as a mother church in the country.
The triple mission—bondage of the three men has been a blessing to some cities in Ethiopia. Addis Ababa, Bishoftu, Ginchi, Zeway and Assella cities have been trying to bring out a licensed local church at their end. Adama city has also got repeated training and meeting assemblies as a result of these activities.
Pastor Nathan had worked as AFM Ethiopia mission coordinator, which made it possible to visit, inspire, motivate and organize all the seven separate cities local assemblies before the times of Covid-19.
Pastor Gossa had always been on the communication position and corridors of translation; interpretation; activity follow up; performance checking; technical and financial plans evaluations; budget random auditing; fundraising spokesperson; and has most of all been a business tour facilitator for every travels made for mission from South Africa to Ethiopia and vice versa.
Pastor Dr. Swift has been the most dominant figure in the spiritual leadership of promoting the idea of planting an AFM church in Ethiopia. Every single speech and preaching in sermons, meetings, trainings and even informal gatherings has not just printed the mission on the participator’s heart, but has also brought up strong servants of God to the specific mission as well as to the universal church at large.
The writer of this article gives all the glory to God, and want to extend his appreciation for continuous contributions of these three men.
